Pastor

Myra Monroe Carr is on her second appointment as Pastor of Southwest UMC.  She served from 2016 – 2019 and returned in 2023 after serving two years at Melrose UMC.  Myra and her husband Rob have two children, Monroe and Marianna.  She is passionate about disability and accessibility as her daughter has Down syndrome and autism.   Myra is a familiar face in Gainesville, having anchored the local news for many years.  Currently, she anchors the News at Noon on WCJB-TV20.  Myra has a Master of Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication, Broadcast News from the University of Florida.  She writes frequently on issues of faith on her website, Anchored to Christ, and sends out a monthly newsletter.
