Wild Flowers
“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works."

Matthew 6:30-32  The Message

A Cross is too heavy to carry alone

A cross is too heavy to be carried alone.  I've experienced this truth in many ways throughout my life.  When the church needed a new cross, my husband bought the wood and assembled it.  But, when he went to pick it up, he was taken aback.  He struggled as he carried it, and was reminded that Jesus also struggled to carry his own cross.  Jesus was exhausted, having been flogged, hit on the head and mocked by the Roman soldiers.  A man passing by known as Simon of Cyrene, was forced to carry the cross after Jesus to the place of crucifixion (Mark 15:15-21).  We don't know much about this man named Simon, except that he was from Africa and had come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover.  Suddenly, he found himself bearing the weight of another man's trial. We must remember we do not carry our crosses alone. Jesus knows the burdens you are carrying and promises to carry them with you.  If the weight of your present circumstances are too much for you, then let this truth give you hope.
